Most days of budget hearings are expected to run all day, with an hour-long lunch break somewhere in the middle.

We are splitting each day up into morning and afternoon assignments (9am-1pm and 1pm to end). If you are available for the whole day, feel free to apply to both morning and afternoon assignments.

You have the option of documenting this meeting in person or remotely. If you choose to attend in person, an additional hour will be added to your total assignment hours.

Commissioner Jamie Lee going over the details of both Airports , Ohare and Midway. Ohare modeling has been completing with new runways, new tower, etc. Ohare is now a strong airport around North America.

Midway airport has expanded and doubled its security. TSA has improved with getting travelers right on time. Commissioner of aviation , Jamie mentioned small businesses should be encouraged to partnered with the both airports

Commissioner Jamie stated without the funding and the help , these projects at both airports wouldn’t happen

Commissioner Jamie also mentioned that Chicago had regained its all domestic flights. International flights have now increased to 75% and back to how it was before COVID. Ohare airport is now at 2019 rates

Delays have been now decreased to 65%. These delays have been decreased because of the new 4 runways it has been added to the airport.

Midway airport has now surpass 2019 rates from domestic flights but not international. Ohare airport has not yet surpass international or business flights yet from 2019 rates.

Chairman Velazquez of Aviation went over details on how they partnership with security, CPD , and homeland security for any threats that any of the airports may get. There is an emergency plan on how threats should be managed

Hiring and filling vacancies are an issues for all departments at the moment.

Plans with CTA are in the works to update the structure on how visitors can navigate to the entrance of the CTA entrance

15 new customer services hires will be hired as bilingual and to assist the visitors/tourists at the airport to navigate them to the CTA / public transportation

Alternative ways for Uber to drop off and pick up areas to make it easier for travelers and for the Uber drivers

Train to the Ohare Airport is now open and running for everyone

Plans with Amtrak to make tourists easier to travel to the McCormick conventional center. Plan is on the table and will consider if this could be an easier way for people to get to the airport and to the convention center
