The five-member Cleveland Board of Building Standards and Appeals hears appeals from property owners who are challenging orders from The Department of Building and Housing, The Cleveland Division of Fire, and other housing-related agencies. Appellants often seek more time to get permits for construction or building use or to remedy housing violations. The board reviews matters relating to the location, design, materials, construction, alteration, repair, equipment, use or occupancy, maintenance, removal or demolition of any building or other structure, or appurtenance connected or attached to such buildings or structures, regulated by the Building Code of the City of Cleveland.

Owner wants more time to do repairs, his attorney Joe Straka is present .. he said the items were addressed
Tom Vanover from the city said the records reflect some work was done on the last visit in April. Vanover said there’s no permits for occupancy
Straka said that the property is listed with the rest of the units.
Gallagher said 1 month as a motion, which passed

The owner wants time to finish repairs. Mr and Mrs Thomas are the parties. They are sworn in, and spoke to the situation with the tenants being removed from the property. He has a contractor. The biggest issue is electrical.
Vanover said the city boarded up the front door. Gallagher gave 60 days to repair

Evaluations are being done with selling the structures

Vanover said the garage is operating
Jonathan Siegel was sworn in, he said that there are 3 elevators. He is with the present owner. Vanover said the owner still has responsibility for the issue. The project has been in the works since he started in his position. He prefers a hard date
Vanover is concerned about the 1 working unit and breakdowns
Hes been in his position since 2013 and each year the Centennial project has been mentioned and hasn’t been done. His responsibility is for the people who use the garage
Gallagher asked for a hard date
The purchaser asked for 90 days

Larry Thomas is retired and got the former tenants out of the house. His funds from the tenants are held up in the housing court. He will need several months. He has lived there prior for decades.

He objects to the notion of the owner working without permits
Gallagher made the motion to remand to the city
No one seems to be present. Vanover and Jacobson was sworn in

Owner wants more time for the repairs .. residents are still in the house. Eviction has been granted. ODasha Blue is the owner. She has an electrician who is ready to repair the house.

The house next to the church is the property of issues
The squatters tore down the boards after a fire
Karl Brunjes said the church is a Landmark and has to go through the process for demolition
Variance is requested for the property
