Input Session on School Transportation. The BPS District is seeking public input on proposed solutions designed to improve the quality, safety and reliability of transportation. One of the proposed changes would involve altering ‘bell times’ to allow a two-tier bus system, potentially starting the school day earlier for elementary students and later for secondary students. Stakeholders are invited to attend one or more input sessions with BPS leaders to share feedback on possible solutions. Sessions are facilitated by the Consensus Council. The next session is held October 7 at Horizon Middle School.

Note-taking by Valerie Siqueiros

Should there be the new times for bell schedule change. how does it affect busing? What about staffing that early before school, breakfast availability, are parents were willing to pay for busing? Consensus Council will report, School Board reviews and votes for next school year

The Bismarck School Board is comprised of five members serving 4-year terms. The Board governs the district through policy by employing a leadership model known as coherent governance where the Superintendent acts as the Chief Executive Officer. The Board establishes intended outcomes for student results and holds the Superintendent accountable for those results. At Board Meetings, members strive to initiate and maintain constructive two-way dialogue with students, staff, parents, and citizens to engage all stakeholders in the current work of the Board and the district. Each Board Member, with the exception of the President, holds a portfolio corresponding to one of the district’s strategic priorities, including operational excellence, personal excellence, learning excellence, and operational excellence. Through the coherent governance model and stakeholder collaboration, the Board seeks to realize the district’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Mission: “Empower every learner to thrive.” Vision: “Together, our strong relationships build inclusive, collaborative, and innovative environments that create agency and inspire a passion for learning, excellence, and discovery.”
