The committee approved a multi-year purchase order for guardrail materials in response to rising collisions. Several major park and infrastructure projects—including bridge restorations conversions—were extended or scheduled for completion by summer 2025, with no additional cost.
The public is invited to join via Zoom, phone, or in person.
In Person: Meeting will be held at Hearing Room 704, Guardian Building, 500 Griswold, Detroit, MI 48226.
To join remotely, visit https://www.waynecounty.com/elected/commission/public-services.aspx and click on the Zoom Link, or use one of the provided phone numbers. A link to the agenda is provided on that page as well.
COPS reviews items pertaining to county roads, bridges, building needs, and parks & recreation, which includes the Inkster Valley golf course.
There will also be time allotted for public comment. There is an email address in the Agenda to which public comments may be submitted; all comments will be read, unless the commentator is presenting, whether in person or remotely.
Looks to be starting a little late. People still filing into the room and the sound isn’t on.
Roll Call:
Chair: Terry Marecki present
Vice-Chair: Joseph Palamara present
Member: Sam Baydoun present
Member: Cara A. Clemente present
Member: Jonathan C. Kinloch present
Moving quickly, the Chairwoman’s remarks are short, the minutes of the previous meeting are approved, and there is no unfinished business.
First item, Ms. Catherine says that a pipe needs repair. Instead of emptying into Belleville Lake, it’s forming a sinkhole.
Cause of the pipe break is likely just age. These are old pipes.
Area is closed off with barricades. There isn’t a sinkhole now, but they are trying to prevent the ground from sliding into the lake.
Steve Shad, Division Director, says the guardrails keep getting knocked down by cars skidding off the road, taking the turn too quickly. They’ve replaced it twice already.
I didn’t catch Item 2 being voted on, but they move on to Item 3.
Apparently, no questions being asked will result in an approval of the item.
Gregory Hearst, Director of Facilities Management and Planning presents information about the need for improved software. They need a higher level of software to allow for greater flexibility.
Item 8. Sammy Cardly (sp?) presents on this item. Two weeks notice are given for closing of bridges.
Item 9. Kinloch motions to pass and Baydoun seconds. The item passes.
There are no emails, nobody present to speak, and nobody on Zoom to speak.
