Winter Sports Recognition: This year, the Pike High School Girls' Basketball team was recognized for its outstanding season. The girls went to State but lost by one point.

POST MEETING INFO: Winter Sports Recognition: When the Pike High School Girls' Basketball team went to accept their recognition with a photo taken, the crowd cheered with excitement. I sat behind the team during the meeting, hearing small conversations whispered among them.

POST MEETING INFO: When the meeting changed course on Action Items, Pike Road High School Principal, Greg Foster, presented eight contracts to the Board.

POST MEETING INFO: While the Board approved Contract No. 3: GIESC - Keep Indiana Learning - ElvatED, member and Director of Enterprise Data Governance at Sallie Mae, Steve Hoofer, abstained from voting due to a conflict of interest. Hoofer's wife works for GIESCO.

POST MEETING INFO: In the Board's final remarks, the Vice President and pastor at Nu Corinthian Baptist Church, Terry Webster, Sr., talked about his involvement in the Pike High School-sponsored event, the Sports Mental Health Summit, last weekend.

Webster, Sr. discussed how subjects like leadership, anger management, self-care, athletic burnout, and the importance of keeping a high grade point average became the central themes of the weekend's event.

However, Webster Sr. felt disappointed by the low participation from Pike High School athletes. The Vice President wanted to see more engaged attendees at the summit, as many themes addressed serious issues in sports today.

POST MEETING INFO: Secretary and teacher at M.S.D Wayne Township, Angela Barnes, mentioned the Red Devil Dash: a 5K and 1K run/walk event for both adults and kids, hosted by Pike Township Wellness at Eastbrook Elementary School on May 17, 2025.
